Established in 2008, by Ian Moreton, Exteriorscapes is a full service landscaping company that can design, construct, and maintain your dream garden. Our projects include an extensive portfolio of small and large residential gardens, as well as security estates.

We strive to create grounds of lasting beauty, tranquil areas that are a natural escape for you, and spaces that both satisfy self-expressionism as well as respect the earth. In our pursuit of perfection, our designs achieve harmony between the garden and architecture, seamlessly combining indoor and outdoor spaces.

Gardens today are an attractive and purposeful extension of our homes, and are also an investment. We will assist you to increase the value of your property by designing the perfect landscape for your requirements and ensuring that it stays beautiful and well-kept through regular maintenance. In maintaining the gardens we have landscaped this ensures a continuing relationship with our clients and gardens, that don’t just look amazing, but also enhance the quality of our clients’ lives.

Our relationship with a number of reputable suppliers allows us to save you costs and to deliver the high standard we are known for. We are able to undertake project management where we can liaise with highly experienced subcontractors in the fields of irrigation, lighting, boreholes, pools, and water features. We also work on co-operative projects with landscape architects and designers.

IAN MORETON

With over 15 years experience, Ian's landscaping and building knowledge is second to none, his keen eye for detail and infectious enthusiasm will ensure your garden is constructed to the highest of standards. Ian is the imagination, creativity, and driving force behind Exteriorscapes. He does all the client consultations, designing, and quoting himself, as well as oversees all the installations.

OUR TEAM

Our team consists of two crews, one that is dedicated to the Landscaping side of the company, and the other to the Garden Maintenance side. Our team is made up of passionate, competent, loyal staff members, who deliver a wide range of skills to suit any project.

HOW WE WORK

CONSULTATION

We start every project by providing a complimentary consultation on site to discuss your ideas and vision for your new garden. This typically takes around 1 hour and allows us to explore your requirements, objectives, style, budget, and key design elements. This helps us to ascertain the scope of work required to develop your ideal garden, and how it can be moulded to suit your lifestyle.

QUOTATION / FEE PROPOSAL

Following the initial consultation the client will be provided with a detailed quote, this is at no cost to the client. Should a comprehensive design be necessary, the cost of this will be finalised prior to the design being done. The fee for the design work starts at R4800, and depends on the scope of work, and how complex the design is. The fee is based on the estimated number of hours required to design your garden. This work is quoted as an exclusive and independent phase and must be settled in full before any actual implementation begins. Quotes from subcontractors (e.g. borehole, irrigation, pool etc.) are also provided if required.

DESIGN

If a design is necessary, and the proposed fee has been accepted, we then begin designing your garden. We like this phase to be a collaborative process between our clients and Ian. This phase typically requires a few phone calls/emails/face to face meetings, which gives us an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of your design objectives. We will visit your property to take final measurements, alternatively, final site plans will be required. We will identify the unique characters and constraints inherent to your site, considering soil structure, prevailing winds, minimum and maximum temperatures, average rainfall, views, traffic noise, neighbours etc. Once the design work is complete, we will organise a time with you to come and present the plan and quotation for your approval, we will discuss any revisions if required, until you are satisfied.

INSTALL

Once you have accepted the quote, we require a 70% deposit in order to secure the job, at which point all co-ordinating and scheduling of work will begin. The installation begins with the site being cleared. Then the hardscapes are built, such as retaining walls, fire pits, decks, pergolas, steps etc. Finally the softscapes are installed, which includes soil preparation and levelling, flowerbed layouts, fertilising, composting, positioning and planting of plants, mulching, and lastly laying of lawn. The implementation and installation of the project will be overseen by Ian.

MAINTAIN

In order to ensure that the landscape matures correctly over time we advise that you accept either a monthly, fortnightly, or weekly maintenance contract after installation. If you do not choose to take a maintenance contract with us, we highly recommend that we come annually, or biannually, for specialised maintenance to make sure that your plants are staying healthy and growing strong.
